Established in 2001 as a private entity, EFRAG was formed to integrate European perspectives into financial and sustainability reporting. EFRAG played a key role as a technical advisor to the European Commission during the drafting of ESRS standards under the CSRD, outlining the required information and metrics for compliance reporting.
